Dr. Mike Johnson has been Berea College's Cross Country and Track coach for over 30 years. He has a passion for promoting his student's physical and spiritual well-being. He and his wife have traveled extensively and been host family to many Berea College international students. They embrace the students as part of their family. Dr. Johnson has a heart for bringing freedom to those caught in the cycle of the sex trade industry. His educational experience, keen mind for business and love for people of all nations enriches the Board of Global Bridges.

Being married to a spouse with the mindset of a global initiative brought a global understanding to his faith. Add to this his travels to India and Africa and seeing the different cultures and the various types of suffering encountered bore a great commitment on his part to find a way to give relief to those struggling.

Susan has worked in international education for fifteen years and has traveled to 30 different countries in her roles as recruiter, admissions and advisor at three different institutions in both the United States and Canada. It is her honor to help students integrate their educational goals with their future professional plans, and to understand the transition to their own unique "third culture" that they create during the process.
DOCTOR LEADING OUR TRAINING PROGRAMS

Dr. Pamela Smith, completed specialty training in psychiatry at New York–Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia & Cornell and later served on the faculty of the UCLA Medical School and staff of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute & Hospital. She has worked in international humanitarian aid providing mental health training to clinicians serving impoverished communities in South Africa, people living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda, survivors of the tsunami in Indonesia and Sri Lanka, survivors of the earthquake in Haiti, and refugees of the conflicts in Iraq and Darfur. Dr. Smith has participated in coordinating projects with organizations and agencies including the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), International Medical Corps (IMC), World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). In addition, she has served on the peer review panel of the United Nations/Inter-Agency Standing Committee Mental Health Task Force developing international guidelines for mental health interventions during emergency disaster relief. Dr Smith currently works as an independent consultant to agencies and organizations associated with global mental health and serves as the Director of the nonprofit medical group, Psychiatrists Global Training Network (PGTN). Dr. Smith has also provided clinical services to varied resource-limited communities in urban and rural areas of the United States and has developed the Telepsychiatry Service for the San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Service in northern California. In addition, she has worked for the U.S. Indian Health Services (IHS) supporting the mental health of Native Americans.
